Hi All,

Nice to see that a site dedicated to teaching FOSS has been setup!

Last month Bob Edwards and myself ran a masters level course at ANU in
Canberra on FOSS development. We had 21 students and got very positive
feedback on the course contents.

We've released all the course material under a creative commons
license on the course website:

  http://cs.anu.edu.au/students/comp8440/

We've also put up videos of all of the lectures, which may provide
some useful ideas on how to present the lectures.

I think most of the lecture material would be appropriate in other
parts of the world. Some of the material is a bit specific to my own
background in FOSS (specifically the Samba case study lecture), but
most of it is fairly general.

I had planned on creating a site to publicise this material in the
hope that other universities would be able to use it as the basis for
their own FOSS courses. Now that I know about the TOS site, I'll just
add our material to the wiki there.

I'm also putting together the scripts we used to setup the lab
environment we used for the course and plan to release those as a
package soon.

Cheers, Tridge
