Thanks Greg, Karsten.

Good points. I may end up piecing together bits of things like Fogel's
book, The Open Source Way, and the new text. The context is a
first-year (non-majors) seminar, so I want to strike a balance that is
more towards the community engagement side and less towards the
technical.

More on that at a later point---probably after the semester ends, and
I can focus more on the next semester.
