Hi Folks,
Just a reminder that if we're going to have a BOF at SIGCSE, we have to
submit by Monday 11/1. We've got some ideas down at:
http://teachingopensource.org/index.php/SIGCSE_2011
Was Fedora going to try to do a special session? In the case that we want to
submit a formal BOF, I have outlined the information required for submission
at:
http://teachingopensource.org/index.php/SIGCSE_2011/BOF_Proposal
The information in italics are the instructions which we should replace with
real text. I've made a start on this, but won't get back to it for a day or
so so feel free to edit.
Heidi

Subject: [SIGCSE-members] Reminder: SIGCSE 2011 Birds-of-a-Feather
Have you ever thought, "There must be other people who have the same
questions I have about this topic." Or "This topic is really cool,
I'd like to share my experiences." Or even "How would I go about
starting something new?" If so, then Birds-of-a-Feather may be the
right place for you. In a Birds-of-a-Feather session, people with a
common interest come together to share and discuss their experiences
informally. Topics range from course material, to outreach
programs, to the logistics of running a programming contest, etc.
But in order for everyone to know what you want to talk about, you
need to propose a topic for a Birds-of-a-Feather session. A BOF
proposal isn't very long (maximum one page description, including
the abstract), but it should convey what you think is interesting
about the topic in a way that will make others think it is
interesting, too.
The deadline for submitting a Bird-of-a-Feather proposal is Monday,
November 1, 2010. If you have any questions, please consult the
conference website: http://www.sigcse.org/sigcse2011/
or email me.
See you in Dallas!
