Thank you for noting that. I would expect them to look for a package to
open the file. We will be teaching them how to get involved in FoSS, and I
think we should push them to do some research on their own before the
event. How can I edit an ".odt" file is an example.

We're invariably asking them to get prepared i.e. start getting used to
FoSS (Free & Open Source Software).
