Still taking folks who want to join in. We're lucky this year in that a major Open Coursework effort, Web Work, http://webwork.maa.org/ is also having a "camp/hackathon" the same week in Rochester so we're looking at coordinating some of the contribution efforts, or at least a lunch or dinner, with them to get the two groups together as one of the main leaders of WeBWork is a Rochester POSSE alum.

It took a while to get the finances confirmed, but we're good to go, so if you are interested in joining us, just send an email to me at sj at mail.rit.edu<mailto:sj at mail.rit.edu> for the moment and I'll send out a full registration email with all the usual goodness sometime next week.

Hi all,

I don't know if I've made mention in this space, but I'll be moving
institutions this summer. I'll be leaving Allegheny College and
starting at Berea College in the fall. In traditional terms, I'll be a
joint hire between the Technology and Applied Design program and
Computer Science... but, since Berea has divisions (and not
departments), I'm simply a divisional hire.

I'm very excited about this move, and will be working with Mel,
Sebastian, and anyone else who wants to join in on the design of a new
(open, of course) introductory curriculum in electricity and
electronics. Our goal is to provide a hands-on, or "craft-first,"
experience that helps students ground themselves in the practice of
electronics before being buried in the math and theory.

Sebastian Dziallas will be one of the core "on site" team members,
lending his experience and expertise as an open-source practitioner
and student of engineering. I would appreciate the opportunity to use
some (most) of my POSSE 2011 funds to support his travel, as he will
be spending 1.5 months working very much on this project.

Hanover -> Boston $907.19
Boston -> Cincinnati $471.10

There are complexities involving other flights that I am not
responsible for, which somehow equate to Sebastian being in Kentucky
for half of June and most of July. I can provide more information to
anyone who needs it (off-list), as there are details in the itinerary
that perhaps should not be posted publicly.

My hope is that this is enough information to begin a reimbursement
process. More can be provided as needed.

Many thanks,
Matt
