Hi Meg,

Let me mention two efforts that seem related to what you are interested in:

a) Mozilla has an initiative called “Mozilla Clubs” that is directly related. You should contact Lucy Harris and Christos Bacharakis (copied on this email) to discuss that effort. They are currently working on launching clubs in the U.S. Up to this point the clubs have been in other areas of the world. See: https://learning.mozilla.org/en-US/clubs

b) I am part of a team that has been working for some time to help faculty teach about humanitarian FOSS. You can read about that effort here: http://foss2serve.org/ We also run a faculty workshop called POSSE and there is information about that effort on the same site. Finally there are a bunch of open source related learning activities on the site.

Cheers,

Subject: [TOS] College Workshops for GNOME Project

Hi All,

I'm a member of the Board of Directors for the GNOME Foundation. I am working on putting together materials for an introductory workshop for college students, similar to what OpenHatch had for Open Source Comes to Campus events. Since OpenHatch is not currently active, I am looking for an organization we can partner with to help coordinate efforts and give feedback on the resources we put together for students. Is this something the TOS community would be interested in? I noticed that there are already several resources that use GNOME, so I hope that such a partnership would also be beneficial to TOS.

Thanks,
Meg Ford
