Hi Folks,

It turns out that there are Outreachy internships in HFOSS!

===============

Deadline for grant applications: March 1, 2021

About Outreachy

Outreachy<https://www.outreachy.org> is a paid, remote internship program. Internships last three months. Interns and mentors work completely remotely.

Outreachy's goal is to improve diversity in open source. Past interns are 92% women, 64% people of color, and 12% from a historically disadvantaged caste or tribe. Interns come from around the world, with many interns located in India, Brazil, Nigeria, and Uganda.

Humanitarian Open Source Grant

Outreachy is providing a grant to fund interns working with humanitarian open source communities. We are especially invite humanitarian communities to apply that are tackling climate change, mental health issues, or infectious diseases.

The Outreachy grant will pay for the internship stipend. This is an ideal chance to get a diverse set of people working with your humanitarian open source community.

Humanitarian communities will provide an internship project and mentors to work with the intern. Mentors will need to commit to working 5 hours per week with the intern during the internship period (May 24 to August 24).

Outreachy is committing to fund at least one intern ($6,500 USD) per accepted community. We expect to fund 5 to 10 communities for the May 2021 internship round.

The deadline to apply is March 1, 2021 at 4pm UTC. Communities are encouraged to apply before February 8. This allows them to participate in the Outreachy Twitter chat and attract potential applicants.
