I'm here because I've seen, firsthand, that students have the capacity to 
be *immensely* useful contributors to the world around them -- and to 
learn a ton in the process.  Not "in three years when we think they know 
more."  Right now.  And every time we miss an opportunity to engage them, 
it's a tremendous waste for everybody.
