Certainly.  We're in Michigan now and then because my in-laws near Flint 
and in the UP, so if you're serious, I'd be happy to give them some of

I've been an active member of SCORE for a few years now and usually get 
the I-need-software-of-some-kind questions.

Once we're through triage and thinking about what functions are included 
we always turn to finding the right tech to do the work.

Since I've just drilled the business owner on how they get tested code, 
and a jump to the finishing touches will save them a boat load of money, 
a tech who knows open source is always what they'll be looking for.

As more and more people catch wind of these ideas, a MSU degree is going 
to be less competitive.  Maybe not right away, but unless the school 
changes the curriculum to include FOSS in some way, it won't be long 
till advantage begins to slip.

When you consider a smaller school like RIT, who just sent it's hockey 
team to the Frozen 4, has already begun teaching FOSS, you also have to 
watch out for reputation boosts of potential competitors.  Those effect 
you too.
