Fair enough. And, your reply helped. It was the first message I've
seen that provides the needed context to understand the scope/strategy
being taken.  As you pointed out, I was clearly coming from one POV,
which doesn't incorporate the view that is being taken in these steps.
Given that there were +1s on my original concerns, I suspect this
dialog was necessary to help others in the community understand what
is going on as well.

One could argue that I should have simply asked more questions. I'll
try and do that in the future.
