Guys,
I know you were only asking about Red Hat and Ubuntu, but we at
openSUSE are going to do a Google Summer of Code that will be open to
student to join.
If you guys would like the information, please let me know and I will
give it to you. But it will be open to all students all over the
world.

Have you tried SUSE Studio? Need to create a Live CD, an app you want
to package and distribute , or create your own linux distro. Give SUSE
