As a general rule, when replying to a question or comment, I like to think
that even if my reply is intended for a specific individual, that others
might benefit from my knowledge / juvenile humor.  Or, even better, if my
reply contains a glaring error, the teeming masses will catch the error and
correct me, teaching me something as well.  In other words, I believe in the
"many eyes" theory which is part of the whole open source dogma.

Sending privately to a specific individual is the exception to the rule.
 Given that, for me personally, it's a much rarer occurrence, I'd prefer to
have the default reply-to automatically go to the list rather than the
poster.

That said, I now have my mail client default set to "Reply to all" which
usually ends up putting both the list address and the poster address in the
reply header somewhere, allowing a relatively quick "cut" of the unwanted
address.
