I'm following up on infrastructure-related conversation from a month
ago, hence my replying to a message in the thread.

If it helps move infrastructure concerns forward (in particular, with
respect to supporting the POSSE 2011 cohort, and then back-filling),
my institution is able to offer hosting of a RHEL VM for supporting
TOS.org efforts. It would be a 32- or 64-bit VM with 100-300GB of disk
and 2GB of RAM; if those specifications don't work, we can request
more or less as necessary. The VM would be backed up nightly.

At our end, we would need to document the conditions of the hosting --
primarily, a timeframe for re-evaluation (so if we go moribund, the
resources can be freed), who to contact in times of trouble, etc. I
say "etc." because very little was articulated to me as being
necessary, so I think we have latitude to present the structure that
would work best for us.

I offer this up in case it makes it easier to go forward with some
things rather than others, and am not trying to upset any existing
hosting relationships. I am likely able to contribute some time to VM
setup, and perhaps some to administration going forward. More likely,
I'll try and find students who would be a good fit for Infra work.

I've been in the office since 9AM, so I'm going to check out and find
(lunch + dinner). My hope is that this helps create opportunities for
motion, and I'll do my best to answer any questions it brings up.

Cheers,
Matt
