[TOS] Audio question

Hi all,
It is time for me to get my interviews processed and posted to the
opensource.com/edu channel. Mixing them down will be less of a
challenge than I convinced myself of, but I have a question about
process/outcome.
Here's a sample file:

I normalized it (so it sounds reasonably loud at reasonable volume
settings on your FOSS music player---your iPod, for example), and then
I did something a bit weird.
The recording is split, so I'm on one channel, and Grant is on the
other... it's like an old Beatles recording, really. Initially, you
hear both mics. Then, when I start talking, I fade Grant's microphone
out, so you only hear my mic. This is because his mic was just picking
up ambient noise. Then, when he starts talking, I fade my mic out.
I think this sounds weird. Should I not do this to the whole
interview? Or, if you like it, I can. I could just reduce the volume
of the "other" microphone, which might be less drastic.
Thoughts?
Cheers,
Matt
