Hi Folks,

Google's Summer of Code<https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/> starts accepting student applications on Monday, March 29. The deadline to submit is Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at 19:00 UTC. This year there are 202 open source mentoring organization<https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/organizations/?sp-page=5#5102012099723264> with 31 organizations new this year.  There are helpful resources<https://opensource.googleblog.com/2021/03/google-summer-of-code-2021-mentoring-orgs-announced.html> for students who are interested in participating.  There are also a number of socially beneficial projects including:

  *   CiviCRM<https://civicrm.org/> - leading open source CRM for nonprofits worldwide
  *   Digital Impact Alliance (DIAL) at UN Foundation<https://digitalimpactalliance.org/> - open source projects for humanitarian work, international development, and peace

  *   Kiwix<https://www.kiwix.org/en/> - allows people without internet connectivity to browse a wide range of educational websites archived as zim files
  *   Learning Equality<https://learningequality.org/kolibri/> - open solutions designed to support learning for the half of the world without Internet access
  *   LibreHealth<https://librehealth.io/> - open source projects in Health IT
  *   OpenMRS<https://openmrs.org/> -world's leading open-source enterprise electronic medical record system
