Have your students work in motivating humanitarian open source projects while learning cutting edge professional skills! We are excited to be once again running POSSE: the Professors? Open Source Software Experience workshop: When: May 24-25, 2022 Where: Nassau Community College, Garden City, NY Application: http://foss2serve.org/index.php/POSSE_2022-05 Additional Information: http://foss2serve.org This faculty workshop will help you support student participation in a Humanitarian Free and Open Source Software (HFOSS) project. HFOSS is open source software that has a humanitarian purpose such as food pantries, sustainability, disaster management, or health care. Workshop Format: This workshop has two stages: ? Stage 1 - Starts April 25, 2022, with online activities. These activities will take 2-3 hours/week and be completed asynchronously. In addition, you will meet synchronously with facilitators and participants. ? Stage 2 ? The 2 day face-to-face workshop held at Nassau Community College in Garden City, NY May 24-25. Participants will include the workshop organizers and POSSE alumni. Join the community of over 175 faculty members who have attended POSSE and are interested in their students doing social good by participating in HFOSS. How to Apply: http://foss2serve.org/index.php/POSSE_2022-05. Prior work with open source is not required. More than one applicant per institution is encouraged. We have room for a few POSSE alums, especially if you bring a colleague from your institution. Application deadline is April 20, 2022. We will notify you of the status of your application by April 22, 2022. Participant Support: NSF funding will provide up to $500 for travel, as well as 2 nights lodging and meals during the workshop. Note: Please be aware that in the interest of everyone's health and safety, we will require all in-person workshop attendees to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster prior to attending the workshop. We will follow the CDC's recommended masking protocols and may require masking of all attendees when indoors. We will review our health and safety protocols closer to the time of the workshop and will clearly communicate our expectations to all attendees. As we approach the event, we will have a document with all pertinent information and ask you to sign your agreement to the terms of attendance. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate remote participants during Stage 2.
