We are excited to announce the next POSSE: the Professors’ Open Source Software Experience workshop:
When: June 1-3, 2026
Where: Red Hat Headquarters, Raleigh, NC

This faculty workshop will help you engage students in open source software and team-based software development.
Workshop Format: This workshop has two stages:
* Stage 1 - Starts April 27, 2026, with online activities. These activities will take about 8-10 hours total and be completed asynchronously. In addition, we will have two short synchronous online meetings with facilitators and participants for Q&A and coordination for stage 2.
* Stage 2 – The 2.5 day face-to-face workshop held at the Red Hat Headquarters, Raleigh NC June 1-3, 2026.
Join the community of over 200 faculty members who have attended POSSE and are interested in their students developing software skills and/or doing social good by participating in open source.

Prior work with open source is not required. More than one applicant per institution is encouraged.
Application deadline: We will accept applications on a rolling basis with a deadline of April 20.
Notification: Within about a week of submission of the application.
Participant Support: NSF funding will provide support for travel, 2 nights lodging, and meals during the workshop (up to budget limits).
Note: Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate remote participants during Stage 2.
